Many mothers make the mistake of trying to get their organization and planning right before they start working. With kids, getting your planning right is going to be virtually impossible. You might streamline breakfast and opt for organic salads as breakfast.
This might work well for a day or two. However, you will face problems the moment kids discover that you intend to provide the same food on a daily basis. They will immediately reject the idea and will insist on tastier stuff in their meals. This is obviously going to lead to guilt because you would feel that you are bad mother for not providing tasty food to your kids.
You will then try to come up with a newer solution which not only helps you complete your tasks quickly but also helps your children enjoy tasty food. However, you will probably have to resort to artificial and processed foods to keep your children happy. This is going to affect their health and is not a long term solution.
As you can see, trying to solve all the problems before you start working is only going to delay the decision forever. Instead, you should take the plunge and try to make your plans work to the maximum extent possible.
Working after having kids is like learning how to swim. You cannot do it unless you take the plunge. The initial phase will be difficult. This is where you should demand extra support from your partner. If your partner can step in and help you out by doing extra chores around the house, it can make a huge difference to the overall atmosphere in the house.
When kids see their father handling household chores just to help you go to work, they will automatically understand that this is something big and should be treated with sufficient respect. Once you get this message across you will find it very easy to manage work and kids.
